What to Consider in Large Scale Commercial Printing Services

Average consumers and professional publishing companies all have access to large scale commercial printing services. The rapid expansion of the “self-publishing” industry has made the remarkably high-quality products available only on commercial printing presses available to the masses.

When considering the use of a large-scale commercial printing service it is important to remember that, while the cost of the job may seem quite low, the services they provide come at a premium expense. This means that a few “essential” options should be available from PrintArt when selected, these include:

  • Full-color printing
  • Lithographic or planographic options
  • Short-run print jobs
  • A variety of binding options

Full-color printing is an absolute essential for anyone considering the publication of a book with graphics, illustrations, photographs, or reproduction photographs of artwork. It is also important if a full-color case or cover is desired. Many people also self-publish children’s books and full-color printing is an absolute necessity where such works are concerned.

Lithographic and planographic processes require the “plate” to come into full contact with the paper and results in the highest quality imagery available. Many coffee table books and highly graphic works rely on the lithographic process to yield the best results. This also requires the commercial printing service to make full-color printing available as well but is generally not difficult to locate within any printing company’s basic services.

Short-run print jobs are essential because they can make the difference between printing a book and not printing a book. How is that? A commercial printing service that accepts short-run jobs allows a self-publishing author to order less than one thousand units. This can save enormous amounts of money and may actually allow someone to move ahead with their publishing plans. Many short-run printers also don’t tack on extra fees if an existing customer orders a repeat of a short-run job because they would already have all of the materials to complete the work.

Commercial printers should offer their customers a nice range of binding options, even if they are ordering a short-run printing job. Today’s binderies can glue or stitch their binding and make a range of “cases” available as well. Commercial printers should be able to make many options for both soft and hardcover books affordable and available to their clients.

Some final considerations for working with a commercial printing service include support services, shipping, and “turnaround” time. Even the largest commercial printers should be able to guide their client through the entire printing and proofing process. This means that they should have a dedicated customer representative who is in direct contact with the customer every step of the way – from the design of the job, the approving of the “proof” copy, and the review of the completed work.

Additionally, there should be some reasonable pricing available on the shipping of printed books through the commercial printing company. Even if they use a bindery service, the printer should extend wholesale pricing because they have access to the best pricing themselves.

Finally, commercial printers, particularly in the “large scale” category, do nothing but print jobs all day, every day. Because of that, they should have a relatively short “turnaround” time on the work, and PrintArt won’t miss your deadline.

It can be a fairly complex process but don’t feel overwhelmed, reach out to PrintArt today, and explain your needs.  Their customer service department will put together a cost-effective quote and help your vision come to reality!

Ceramic Tiles Over the Years

Historically ceramic tiles have been made by man for almost 4000 years. Be it decorative tile work of Persia, mosaics of Spain, the majolica floor tiles of renaissance Italy, the faiences of Antwerp, or the tile iconography of Netherlands all remain landmarks in the history of ceramic tile. Though ceramic tiles of the modern world had humble beginnings as simple white or beige color squares for bathrooms and kitchens, today they come in all sorts of shape, size, color, and design and have made their way into the rest of the home.

What’s more Ceramic tile has a true “Green” pedigree as it is made entirely from natural, recyclable and biodegradable materials. Being naturally waterproof and mold/mildew resistant, ceramic tiles improve indoor air quality, and as they need no polishing are installed faster.

There are various types of ceramic tile products available in the market that can be used as floor tiles, wall tiles, or roof tiles with literally thousands of styles and grades to choose from. However, based upon the material and properties of ceramic tiles they are divided into few broad categories:

Vitrified tiles: These tiles are compact, scratch, and acid-resistant and possess better mechanical strength. They are practically replacing stone and marble as flooring due to their stone-like qualities such as seamless joint and uniform color and texture.

Porcelain tiles: These versatile tiles come with a plain, rough, or polished finish and can be used in interiors and are an excellent choice for outdoor conditions as they don’t wear easily under heavy traffic.

Mosaic tiles: These are small tiles, about .75 inches to 1 inch in size mounted on paper sheets or latex mesh for easy installation. These tiles can be ceramic, porcelain, or glass and are most suitable on walls, curved surfaces as murals, in water pools, and low traffic floors. They do not chip easily and due to numerous grout joints are slip-resistant too.

Glazed tiles: These non-porous, smooth surface tiles are stain proof, most suitable for low traffic areas, walls, and countertops. The large-format glazed tiles with satin finish are quite popular these days.

Quarry tiles: These thick and dense tiles are mostly used in heavy commercial establishments. Their natural color and rugged surface texture give them naturally stain-resistant and slip-resistant qualities.

Terracotta tiles: These handmade or machine made tiles are often used as roof tiles, they feature a rustic look and stay cool in summers and warm in winters though unglazed terracotta tiles need a coat of sealer every year.

Design Trends
Tiles are the most versatile medium and design possibilities are limited only by imagination. The latest tile design trends range from bold colors to black and white scheme and from large sizes to tiny mosaic patterns. While black and white are the minimalist design expression in step patterns, diagonal designs, and a combination of patterns and textures, the vibrant color palette brightens up the spaces and works well in homes. Bold color tiles can also accentuate the black and white layout. Another recent trend is the metallic finish tiles in steel, copper, bronze, gold, or silver, with fresh as well as rusted and classic appearance. Ceramic tiles with steel inlays and Stainless steel finish borders can give the most contemporary look. Oxidized and weathered steel look is the other designer finishes in demand. In terms of size, large format tiles are the hottest look that gives a grand look to space.

With their flawless jointing and eye-catching finishes, they almost look like stone. Besides as the focus is now on natural materials, they are being emulated in tiles too such as stone, wood, and textiles, even natural elements like bamboo and pebbles are being reproduced in tile finishes. As natural design does not repeat itself similarly the emerging concept based tiles- that are designs made using a combination of tiles, too break the monotonous pattern and are thus popular with designers. Similarly, there is also an inclination towards history and heritage; manufacturers are increasingly borrowing from the past to capture the essence of the old world and reproducing in tiles. Retro is one of the hard to miss old school style reemerging today with lime green, orange colors, and checkerboard pattern. For luxury spaces, there are now high-end tiles with gold and silver texture and Swarovski inlays. As also the exclusive digitally printed ceramic tiles that are custom made with complete image permanence.

Ceramic tiles nowadays have become a major lifestyle product and designer tiles have caught the fancy of Indian customers. With technological innovations and designs, the options are endless in terms of finishes and aesthetics as well as applications for various uses. Today tiles are used all over for interiors, residential as well as commercial spaces, and in fact, are considered a new fashion statement.

It can be a fairly complex process but don’t feel overwhelmed, reach out to PrintArt today, and explain your needs.  Their customer service department will put together a cost-effective quote and help your vision come to reality!

Selecting the Best Commercial Printer – PrintArt

Commercial printers are businesses that provide quality digital or litho printed material for businesses looking to promote their product and services. It is a growing business and with popularity comes increased competition. When there are many commercial printers to choose from in your area, then there are certain factors that can help you decide on PrintArt.

Variety of Printed Material
Every business wants to promote its product through print media which includes a variety of things like brochures, leaflets, flyers, calendars, presentation folders, and many other things. All of these marketing materials are needed in large quantities to distribute to probable customers. Those printers who have experience in printing these different kinds of materials on a large scale are perhaps the best ones from which you can choose.

Quality of Printed Material
Knowing that a printer is able to print on a large scale is not the only thing that you should be concerned about. When you set up a meeting with the printer, they should be able to show you samples of different printed media in good quality. The designs, content, texture, and colors should all be very attractive and appealing.

The Originality of Printed Material
If you want your product and service to stand out from the rest of the similar businesses then the commercial printer which you choose should be able to deliver original ideas for the print material. For example, the leaflets, brochures, or calendars that you get designed should stand out and should contain useful content that conveys all the necessary information about the product. The design should be original and not copied from similar business flyers.

The Rates of Printed Material
Since there are many commercial and non-commercial printers in every big city, you should be able to find some really good rates. Discuss your ideas and the number of prints you want with 3-4 reputable commercial printers; they should be able to give you approximate rates for the desired printing job. Comparing rates along with the qualities should help you make a decision on which printer to choose.

Kind of Job You Have
There are many different kinds of printers – those who cater to small to medium-sized printing jobs and those who accommodate large printing jobs. Your choice of commercial printer will also be largely dependent upon the kind of job you have. For example, if you belong to a multi-national company that spends big amounts on printed marketing material every season then you should be searching for a commercial printer who is able to take up such orders and deliver in time.

Do your basic research on different commercial printers and you will see why your best choice will always be PrintArt.

It can be a fairly complex process but don’t feel overwhelmed, reach out to PrintArt today, and explain your needs.  Their customer service department will put together a cost-effective quote and help your vision come to reality!

Commercial Printers and Their Printing Services

Besides designing and printing, there are many other services that PrintArt offers to its clients. In this article, you will be familiarized with the different printing services that you can available at commercial printers.

Proofreading
Some of the good commercial printers offer proofreading as part of their extra printing services. Usually, the printers would print the content that is provided to them on the leaflets or brochures, but if you want your company image to be impeccable, then it is better to have it proofread. Not only are they going to go over the content to find mistakes that had been overlooked but will also advise you on the art that is going to be used in the print material. Proofreading will help eliminate the common grammatical errors found in any text – spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Badly written content event though coupled with a good art background is still going to give a bad impression about the company for whom the material is being printed.

Packaging Delivery of Print Items
One of the best things about hiring a reputable printing firm is that besides the printing services they would be willing to serve you in other ways to make life easier. The professional commercial printer knows what kind of care is required when handling freshly printed material; therefore it would work to your advantage to have the printing company deliver the material that you got printed from them. Only reputable printers would be willing to offer dispatch services.

Photography Services
A commercial printer would be offering printing services for sure, but how many of them offer services of a professional photographer onboard? A professional photographer can really outshine your leaflets and brochures by adding custom photographs related to your business or product. A professional photograph that is taken especially for the purpose of marketing can be far better than computerized graphics.

Stock Control Services
Many wise businessmen do not use their marketing gimmicks all at once and they release it at a steady pace so that the effect on the consumers remains for a long time. Getting print material printed on a large scale is however economical but that doesn’t mean that you need to deploy all that print material in one go. Besides the usual printing services, some worthy commercial printers offer stock control to their clients in which they can manage the stock of printed material for them.

Look no further than PrintArt for the best printing services in the country.

It can be a fairly complex process but don’t feel overwhelmed, reach out to PrintArt today, and explain your needs.  Their customer service department will put together a cost-effective quote and help your vision come to reality!

Saving Files For Commercial Print Output

When working in graphic layout programs such as QuarkXpress and Adobe InDesign saving files properly is crucial for proper print quality. Missing fonts or pictures could turn a creative project into any designers’ worst nightmare. Start by generating folders for every job created. Place all photos, graphics, and fonts in the folder.

Make sure to include the layout file in the folder as well. There should be only one folder for that project. Saving projects in individual folders makes life easier and makes everything move much smoother. Make sure all photos that are used in the layout are at least 300dpi and converted to CMYK for the best output possible. If the layout has bled, (areas of color or objects that run off the page) make sure to create the page size one-quarter inch larger than the final size.

When working in Adobe Illustrator to create custom logos for clients it is extremely important to save two different files. There should be a working file with layers and a file that is prepared for the printing company or the layout program that it will be placed into. Save the file that will be used for the printer or layout program as an Illustrator .eps format and create all type to outlines; this prevents any font issues from occurring. The file should now be ready for print output.

Adobe Photoshop is another program that can be used to create projects for print output. Be sure to flatten all layers, convert to CMYK, and save as a Photoshop .tif file. Since the invention of the .PDF file format, (portable document format) all of these steps can be avoided by creating a high resolution .PDF file. Although this seems much faster and easier it does not always solve the problem. Check which file formats the printing company recommends using before submitting any files for commercial printing output.

It can be a fairly complex process but don’t feel overwhelmed, reach out to PrintArt today, and explain your needs.  Their customer service department will put together a cost-effective quote and help your vision come to reality!

Commercial Printing Basics

Printing for paper, fabric, ceramic, and other materials are now very easy and affordable. This is the main reason why more and more people are trying to venture into the commercial printing business. It has become the gold standard to rely on professional services from companies like PrintArt rather than going to your local print shops.

With the big demand for this industry, one must be very familiar with the commercial printing basics. To fully understand the quality service and the competitive nature of the business, one must get to know the right questions to ask.

Understanding the basics of commercial printing is learning the jargons associated with the business. The terms RGB as well as CMYK are just some of the words that you would usually encounter in commercial printing basics. More than just jargons, there are paperweight, color options, and file preparations.

RGB and CMYK are colors that are essential in running a commercial printing business. RGB stands for the colors Red, Blue, and Green or simply known as the primary colors in printing. On the other hand, the CMYK is for the colors Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (K means Key – black being the key color when printing).

Aside from the color, you must also consider the resolution of the image as well. This refers to the number of dots for every inch of the image printed. The bigger the resolution of your image is, the higher would be the quality of the print. More often than not, computer monitors are displaying only 72 DPI or dots per inch. Meanwhile, the result can have at least 300 DPI or even more.

Thanks to the different imaging software available, you can now clear up the images that look fuzzy and stretched. If you want a printed result that will always retain the image quality that customers are looking for, it would be best if you would only print images that have 300 DPI or more. Always remember that the lower the image resolution is the inferior would be the result.

You’ve now been equipped with the basic knowledge necessary to become a commercial printing expert. Use this information when talking with PrintArt about printing products and services for your business.

Hopefully, this has shed a little light on the advantages of PrintArt. It can be a fairly complex process but don’t feel overwhelmed, reach out to PrintArt today, and explain your needs.  Their customer service department will put together a cost-effective quote and help your vision come to reality!

The Essential Guide To Wooden Flooring

Timber flooring can strike just the right note in any style of home – it looks natural, warm and rustic in a country cottage and, in a contemporary setting, it can add texture and create an organic feel. Moreover, in both modern and period homes, the various vinyl and laminated versions can be an excellent and practical choice.

Wooden flooring is under constant technical development; the latest ranges have tough, long-lasting finishes and are straightforward to install. There’s no need to worry about gaps between boards; the click-and-lock systems mean the task can be handled by an experienced DIY-er, although most suppliers will also offer an installation service.

All types of wooden flooring can be laid over practically any sub-floor, including floorboards, concrete, old tiles or a boarded surface, as long as the surface is sound, dry and flat. Reclaimed timber flooring, however, is a slightly different proposition as it won’t be neatly cut to size and it’s also difficult to judge what it will look like once it’s been finished. Take advice from the supplier on how much to buy and which finish choosing, and always ensure that you’ve bought enough – it will be tiresome to track down similar boards elsewhere. It’s also worth experimenting with cleaning and/or finishes on a spare board before installation.

As it is an integral part of the room and colour scheme, you should choose your timber floor at the start of the redecoration or refurbishment project. According to how light or dark the floor is, it can affect how paint and paper colours appear. That’s why it is important to look at a wide selection of Wooden Sample Boards when comparing one product against another.  Sample Boards give you real, actual product to look at, feel and compare.  It’s as good as seeing the final product and that is the purpose of good quality Sample Boards from PrintArt. Although some timber flooring, such as parquet, solid hardwood and reclaimed boards, can be darkened or lightened by sanding down and re-varnishing, it’s not a job you are likely to want to do very often.

Types of Timber Flooring

Solid Wood

Made from the named timbers, these are solid all the way through. Some types are suitable for installation as the structural floor without needing a sub-floor underneath.

Reclaimed Timber

This can be bought as bundles of planks, boards or panels from reclamation and salvage yards, or as whole floors from timber-flooring specialists. Prior to installation, reclaimed timber flooring can look very uninspiring. Once it’s laid, however, it can look incredible.

Multi-Layered or Engineered

A plywood or veneered base, built up with several layers of crisscrossed hard or softwood boards and topped with a layer of the named timber. The construction of this flooring gives it strength and stability, so it’s a good alternative to solid-wood flooring.

Laminate

Made by producing an image of wood on a layer of plastic, which is laminated to a board backing. Top-quality versions have convincing textured finishes and are hardwearing and tough. Inexpensive DIY-store versions may look flat and lifeless, and the “wood” finish may flake or chip at the edges of the boards.

Vinyl

Vinyl flooring is widely available in timber patterns. Luxury sheet vinyl can be a good choice in the kitchen or bathroom and is considerably cheaper than solid wood. Vinyl plank or block flooring feels harder underfoot but, as each floor is individually designed, it always needs to be professionally laid.

Suitability

  • Timber flooring can be noisy, especially in upstairs rooms; use rugs to deaden the sound of footsteps in busy areas, and always use the insulation suggested by the installers.
  • Reclaimed timber flooring is usually well-worn and is tough enough for most living areas, although you should avoid bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Solid or engineered wood flooring is suitable for living rooms, dining rooms, halls and bedrooms.
  • Laminates are suitable for living areas and bedrooms but avoid rooms with water, as seepage between the joins can cause planks to swell or discolour.
  • Vinyl look-alikes are good choices for bathrooms and kitchens, conservatories and utility rooms, as well as for main living areas.

Styles and Grades

Timber flooring comes as planks (also known as boards), each of which can be made up of a number of strips. A plank with a three-strip design has three narrow strips running the length of the plank. The floor will have a random strip pattern when laid. Planks can vary in thickness, each depth being more suitable for certain bases. For example, the thickest planks, at about 22 mm, can be laid over joists as structural floorboards, while thinner planks, at about 7 mm to 15 mm thick are laid as overlay floors on to an existing smooth, dry sub-floor.

The surface finish of timber flooring is also given a grading. Premium or select grades are smooth, uniform and knot-free. Moving down the scale, grades referred to as “natural” or “rustic” are less uniform and, in many cases, more realistic and appealing. Only order your flooring when you have seen a sample of the exact plank – strip, colour, grade and finish.

Wooden Floors and the Environment

Timber flooring is generally acknowledged to be ecologically sound, providing it is produced using timber from sustainable forests. Reputable stores will only deal with manufacturers who use wood from certified sources. In the UK, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) scheme is widely recognised and includes a certified chain that tracks timber through every stage, from forest to retailer. For further details, visit fsc-uk.info or call (01686) 413916.

Trends

There’s currently a move away from narrow, pale woods, towards darker wood and reclaimed flooring. Oak is a perennial favourite, possibly due to its middle-range colour options, and the fact that it blends with virtually any colour scheme or style.

Extra-wide boards and planks (up to 76 cm wide in some cases) are becoming favourites too, many with distressed finishes such as “smoked” effects. For laminate flooring, choose designs with V-grooves along the long and short edges of the boards, and with textured surfaces, which look far more realistic than completely smooth surfaces.

Longevity and Upkeep

Solid-hardwood flooring is incredibly hard-wearing and will last for many years. It can be sanded down and resurfaced every five to seven years. Engineered flooring will normally withstand one or two sandings, but no more than that. Real wood flooring will age gracefully, and the signs of wear and tear are an acceptable feature – as timber furniture ages and picks up the occasional dent or mark, so will timber flooring. Laminate flooring cannot be sanded when chipped, damaged or scratched, although the best quality ones are very hardwearing and scratch resistant in the first place.

Save timber floors from getting scratched by grit, dust and dirt by regularly sweeping with a soft brush or vacuuming them. Also, mop the floor once a week or so with a well-wrung mop. A detergent can be added to the water, depending on whether the floor has a hard (varnished or lacquered) or soft (waxed or oiled) finish. Hard finishes provide a protective barrier for the wood, and offer a high level of protection, but are more difficult to repair if damaged.

A serious scratch or dent in a lacquered finish usually means the whole floor has to be sanded back and then relacquered or revarnished. Waxed or oiled finishes are softer, and protect the surface by sinking into the wood itself. They’re most successful if you want to nurture an aged, worn look for your wooden floor. If waxed or oiled woods get damaged, the whole floor will not need to be redone, as it is possible to sand back and re-wax or re-oil an isolated area.

Vinyl wood-look flooring is easy to clean; regular sweeping and mopping are all it needs, and scuff marks can be removed by applying a little white spirit using a soft cloth.

Hopefully, this has shed a little light on the advantages of PrintArt and Wooden Flooring. It can be a fairly complex process but don’t feel overwhelmed, reach out to PrintArt today, and explain your needs.  Their customer service department will put together a cost-effective quote and help your vision come to reality!

Basic Technology History

Computers:

First Computer Invented:

Most people when they think of the first computer invented they think of Bill Gates. This, however, is not true, for the computer was invented long before Bill Gates was around. Bill Gates only revolutionized the computer, buy creating a more compact and useful form of the computer and making it available to everyone with a job.

There are many people out there who would say that the first “computer” was the abacus, invented in Asia about 5000 years ago. I, however, wouldn’t.

The first of the “modern” computers were invented during World War II, in 1941 by a German engineer named Konrad Zuse. Its name was the Z3 and it was used to help design German airplanes and missiles. Then in 1943, the Allied forces developed a computer called Colossus. It helped decode German messages.

The Mark I, designed by Howard H. Aiken, an engineer working with Harvard and IBM. The Mark I was positively huge, taking up half of a football field. It was useful though and it helped to create ballistic charts for the US Navy during the war.

Shortly after this, came the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC), developed by John Presper Eckert and John W. Mauchly, working with the government and the University of Pennsylvania. ENIAC was about 1000 times faster than The Mark I but no smarter.

The Use of transistors meant computers that could store memory and even run programs. Soon after computer languages were invented so that people could change the programs run by the computer. Finally, computer research brought us smaller, more useful computers, and eventually the kinds of computers that we have today.

First Laptops Invented:

Although it is a little hard to determine what the first portable or the laptop computer was, and when it was invented, we can however say that there is more than one claim to laptop fame. There were even signs of laptops dating back as early as 1979. Designed by a Briton, William Moggridge, for use by NASA in the early 1980s. IT was one fifth the weight of any model equivalent in performance and was a 340K byte bubble memory lap-top computer with a die-cast magnesium case and folding electroluminescent graphics display screen.

Since then notebook PC’s released in 1981 lay clam to being the first. It was the Epson HX-20, a battery-powered portable computer, with a 20-character by 4 line LCD display and a built-in printer that started the new widespread desire for these laptop computers.

In January of 1982, Microsoft’s Kazuhiko Nishi and Bill Gates begin discussions on designing a portable computer, based on using a new liquid crystal display or LCD screen. LCD technology in 1982? Yeah, that’s right! Believe it or not, we had the technology to make the LCD TVs and monitors that you’ve seen only recently over 22 years ago. But that’s another story in itself.

First PDAs Invented:

First of all, PDA stands for personal digital assistants in case you didn’t already know. In 1993, Apple Computer Inc. released the very first PDA(personal digital assistants) “The Newton®”. For the next three years, PDA sales dwindled and were almost off the charts. Then, in March 1996, Palm(TM), Inc. delivered the industry’s first truly compelling handheld computer, the PalmPilot. Today there are too many PDA companies and products to even bother mentioning.

Some Things You Can Do On A PDA:

  • Get a Wireless Connection
  • Surf the Web
  • Play Music and Video Files
  • Watch movies Using PocketTV
  • Play a Game
  • Use Your Pocket PC as a backup device
  • Update Office Documents
  • Download and read E-books
  • Listen to Audio Books
  • Connect to Windows servers using Terminal Services
  • Use Messenger Tools
  • Change the theme of your Pocket PC
  • Project the Pocket PC screen onto your desktop
  • Study
  • Do Your Taxes

Some PDA Software:

  • Medical/Drug Resources PDA Software
  • Medical Calculators PDA Software
  • Learning Tools PDA Software
  • Patient Tracking PDA Software
  • Document Readers PDA Software
  • Medical Equipment PDA Software
  • Databases PDA Software
  • Printing PDA Software
  • News and Information PDA Services
  • Street Finders and Maps PDA Software
  • Bible Study PDA Software
  • Voice Command PDA Software
  • Language Translator PDA Software
  • Tax PDA Software

Home Entertainment Technology:

Home Entertainment really is just a collaboration of all our entertainment technologies into a package that surely will not disappoint us. Home entertainment systems have many different parts that together give us the feeling of being at the movies.

  • Plasma TV
  • LCD Panel TV
  • DLP Rear Projection TV
  • Video Projectors
  • Surround Sound Audio Systems
  • Speakers
  • DVD / CD / VCR Players
  • Accessories and Furniture
  • Satellite Television
  • Media Center HTPCs

First Television Invented:

The first signs of a tele date back to 1862 when Abbe Giovanna Caselli invents his “pantelegraph” and becomes the first person to transmit a still image over wires. In 1900, at the World’s Fair in Paris, the 1st International Congress of Electricity was held, where Russian, Constantin Perskyi made the first known use of the word “television.” In 1930 Charles Jenkins broadcasts the first TV commercial. The BBC begins regular TV transmissions.

Then throughout the years, the inventions came one after another. In 1950 the FCC approves the first color television standard which is replaced by a second in 1953. Vladimir Zworykin developed a better camera tube – the Vidicon. In 1956 Robert Adler invents the first practical remote control. In 1973 giant screen projection TVs are first marketed. Followed by Sony’s release of the first home video cassette recorder in 1976. By the time 1996 came around, there were a billion TV sets worldwide.

First DVD/Player Invented:

We can only assume the transition over from cd’s and cd players over to DVDs and DVD players weren’t that hard. The technology was already there for them. So the DVD player was surely invented before or right after the DVD was invented. DVDs are the work of many companies and many people. The DVD evolved from CD and related technologies. Companies such as Sony, Philips, Toshiba, Matsushita, Time Warner, and others announced the new “high density” DVD in September of 1995.

Getting Your Hypnotic Sales Pitch Under Control

Getting a sale is not an easy task and most people who have some amount of experience with sales are quite aware of that.

When a salesperson prepares his or her pitch, there are so many factors to be taken into consideration including what should be avoided so as to not turn the potential client off. There is, of course, no way of reading your client’s mind, but there are certain things that you can be pretty sure no one would like, especially those who might be spending money on your product.

Perhaps the main thing when it comes to sales is the point that closing the sale is not only about the product you are selling. A large part of the client’s decision to accept or reject the product can depend on how you conduct yourself. If you are amicable, confident, and knowledgeable they could warm to you and your product but if they do not like you as a person, their reaction to you could extend to what they feel about the product.

For example, being late for an appointment (especially when you trying to sell something to a client) is an absolute faux pas. But you would be surprised at how many people go late to sales appointments, whatever the reason for that might be. As a salesperson, if you assume that you can get away with such misdemeanors, you are being extremely naïve. For starters, be aware of the fact that most people are quick with first impressions and these impressions usually last.

Once they have already had a negative impression about you for making them wait, they might not be too open about listening to what you have to say about the product you have on offer. From your point of view, they might just have been waiting five minutes or ten, but keep in mind that almost everyone is running on a tight schedule and, after all, time is money.

To close a sale, a salesperson had to be confident about him/herself and also the product they are offering. Part of your job as a salesperson is to convey to the client that your product is the solution to a certain problem that they have. But there is a very thin line between confidence and overconfidence. If you walk into a sales meeting acting and talking overly self-confidently it could very well be a turn-off. Your clients do not want to be treated as simpletons who do not know what is good for their business. You want to identify a need for them in their business setup and offer them a solution, and not talk to them as if they are too slow to know any better.

You want to make sure than when you are presenting your pitch you do not come across as being arrogant. Clients especially dislike having to speak with salespeople who treat them with disdain and superiority. If that is the case, even if the client needs the product you are offering, it is very possible that they might choose to get a similar product from somewhere else.

The same goes for aggressiveness. There are many salespeople who believe that pushing the product forcefully can lead to a sale but that is a delicate path to tread. This might work once in a while for you, but more often than not, clients get uncomfortable when you assertively try to push a product onto them.

Clients like to make their own decision and you are there to offer them options, not to force decisions on to them. Bear in mind that your clients are usually well aware of the workings of their business and industry norms, and being as knowledgeable as they are they will probably not digest everything you say without questions.

Part of the problem lies in the fact that many salespeople do not get proper training into the do’s and don’ts of a sales pitch so they might go about doing things in any way as long as they can close the deal. A salesperson that is not properly trained in sales might not realize the importance of customizing the sales pitch for different clients, body language, or the various other matters that impact sales.

Carrying out a good sales pitch and closing the deal is nothing short of an art and it is most definitely not something everyone can handle naturally. If you are a manager, make sure the salespeople you are sending out into the field are those who understand the nature of sales and clients and deal with them accordingly. Knowing the ways of keeping your sales pitch under control is one of the first steps to closing a sale.
